Summer Showers

Image
It was about a month ago that I came back to New Haven to take Organic Chemistry and lab over ten weeks for this summer. I was here last summer as well working in a bioinformatics lab, so I was well aware of the whacky summer weather of the East Coast. What I liked was that the days were a lot longer. It would still be somewhat bright outside at 8 PM, as opposed to during the winter when it would be dark by 4:30. But on the other hand, the East Coast can get notoriously hot and humid, and there were the sporadic thunderstorms and intense showers. When it rains during the summers, it really pours. It is usually very humid, but the rainstorms are very frequent. I am usually a fan of rain when I lived back in California. This was probably due to the fact that for most of the year it is sunny and dry, and the rain we get in the winter is different and new. The rain here on the East Coast, however, is sometimes a nuisance, especially since I walk far to get to my classes, but does a good job of freshening up and cooling down. The view from the common room window is quite beautiful. Normally, the summers are hot and muggy. The rain cools down the breeze c...
